Steve Plume has divided his Silicon Valley career between strategy consulting and hands-on operations, in companies ranging from start-ups to the Fortune 100. He is currently marketing director in Dell’s new Software group, “the world’s largest start-up.” Prior to this role, Steve led the marketing team at Dell/KACE, one of the cornerstone software acquisitions of Dell Software.
Before Dell, Steve was a founding executive of Accept Software, a provider of SaaS-based enterprise solutions for product management and portfolio strategy. While helping to build Accept from zero to an acquisition by Artemis Software, Steve had hands-on executive responsibility in Finance, Marketing, Alliances, and Professional Services.
During the consulting part of his career, Steve’s practice focused on B2B/enterprise technologies, especially working with companies to identify and execute high-growth strategies. Steve’s clients included Apple, Adobe, Cisco, HP, IBM, Motorola, PeopleSoft, and Siebel among large technology companies, and a host of smaller companies, including some of the most successful IPOs of the 1990s.
Steve is a Venture Affiliate of The Entrepreneurs’ Funds, an early-stage venture group, and a guest lecturer on strategy at both the Presidio Graduate School and the Hult International Business School in San Francisco, where twice a year he enjoys being a judge in the school’s business plan competition.
