Apple-FBI Saga Will Continue – Despite the FBI dropping its court order specific to the San Bernardino mass shooter’s iPhone, there are several other requests that remain in other cases that promise to sustain the conflict between Apple (and others) and the FBI. Meanwhile, Apple wants the FBI to reveal the method used to break into the famed iPhone so it can determine if a vulnerability exists. Shockingly, the FBI isn’t willing to share.

Spotify Raises $1 Billion Dollars, and Plenty of Speculation – Streaming music king Spotify raised a huge round of debt financing this week, leading to speculation as to what the money will buy them. Speculation has primarily focused on purchasing a rival, such as Pandora or SoundCloud, but several analysts are suggesting the move is designed to enter the video market. Only time will tell…

Tinder Hooks Up with Humin – Is Tinder looking to move beyond dating with its acquisition of contact app Humin? Only time will tell, but in the meantime the controversial app scored much-desired office space in San Francisco.

Dropcam Cofounder Drops Out of the Nest – This week Greg Duffy, the cofounder and CEO of Dropcam, hastily departed Nest Labs over differences with Nest CEO Tony Fadell. On his way out Duffy and Fadell traded insults that were very un-Googly. The feud and how it was handled highlight what a poor cultural fit Fadell is at Google. Further complicating the division is the fact that Nest hasn’t released a new product in quite some time.
