This event was open to CDS Fellows and select first year students.

John Chandler T’86

John Chandler is Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, responsible for the branding, advertising, web and social media, product marketing, and community responsibility efforts of this Fortune 100/Fortune World’s Most Admired Company.

Before joining MassMutual, John was Chief Marketing Officer at The Hanover Insurance Group, where he led a total company rebranding of the former Allmerica Financial Corporation. Prior to that, he held senior marketing and brand management positions in the US and Europe with leading consumer marketers Hasbro, Holiday Inn, Cadbury Schweppes, and Frito Lay.

John earned his bachelor’s degree at Trinity College in Hartford, CT and a Master’s in Business Administration from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College. Outside of work, John is an avid athlete, including road cycling, cross-training and hiking. He is President of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, a board member of the Economic Development Council of Western Massachusetts, and is actively involved in several marketing and insurance industry organizations.
