What did you do prior to Tuck?

Before Tuck, I spent 6 years in Seattle working for Amazon, most recently working in marketing and product management in the Prime Video business launching Live Sports content and shaping the in-app customer experience.

What made you want to be part of the CDS fellows program? What is the best part about being involved with the center so far?

I wanted to be part of the CDS Fellows program because of the opportunity to be part of a strong community of tech enthusiasts and experts with whom I can share my passion for technology, as well as one that will help me grow in my career while at Tuck and beyond.

As a fellow, I learn from my diverse and experienced peers, actively discuss the latest digital trends and challenges, and grow in both depth and breadth of knowledge and skills in the tech space. I love how the CDS, and the Fellows program in particular, allows me the space and support to dive deep into tech while at Tuck.

The best part of being involved with the center so far has been the opportunity to go to CES conference in Las Vegas in January 2023, which shows Tuck’s and the CDS’s emphasis on experiential learning and providing these opportunities to supplement our in-classroom learning with real world application.

What other activities are you involved in at Tuck?

In addition to being a Fellow for the Center for Digital Strategies, I am Tech Chair on Student Board, Marketing Club Co-Chair, and Cheesemongers Club Co-Chair. I also love staying active with the Outdoor Club and traveling around the world with my Tuck classmates, such as to Peru over Fall break with my Peruvian classmates and Israel for a TuckGO GIX program focusing on tech and entrepreneurship.

What has been the biggest growth moment at Tuck, where you stepped out of your comfort zone? What did you learn from that experience?

At Tuck, I am diving into new, immersive experiences and constantly learning and growing. Over Fall break in October 2022, I traveled to Peru led by five Peruvian classmates, and we spent 10 days exploring the Sacred Valley, hiking, and eating incredible Peruvian food. On this trip, I successfully hiked the famous Rainbow Mountain, which is at nearly 17,000 ft elevation, and this was one of the most challenging physical feats I’ve ever done (breathtaking, literally and figuratively). My classmates who I hiked with were so supportive on this hike, and some of my big takeaways were how much I can trust my classmates, lean on them for support, and achieve success both individually and as a team.

I have reflected on how this was one of the best experiences of my life resulting in memories and lessons that I will carry with me forever when it comes to stepping outside my comfort zone. I love the small, intimate community of Tuck, and I am grateful for so many opportunities for both personal and professional growth. I am broadening my world while making lifelong friends and building a network that I will lean on for years to come.

What CDS learning opportunities or experiences have you learned the most from your time at Tuck so far?

I think the experiential learning opportunities through CDS have been some of the most enriching experiences for me while at Tuck. For example, attending the CES conference with CDS in Las Vegas in January 2023 was of the coolest opportunities to learn about what the future of tech looks like and to network with many industry professionals. It was really inspiring to see all the tech innovation taking place, and it makes me excited and motivated to continue to make an impact in these areas post-MBA.

I also have really enjoyed the fellows-led small group discussions where we dive into various tech topics, such as the most recent discussion on impact of ChatGPT at work.

What class at Tuck pushed your thinking the most?

I am really enjoying Professor Scott Neslin‘s Customer Analytics course this term which focuses on real life customer analytics problems and applications, such as customer acquisition and retention management, cross-selling, upselling, churn management, loyalty program evaluation, etc. This class has pushed me to conduct in-depth quantitative analysis and learn frameworks and methodologies for leveraging data and evaluating common business problems. I think this class brings such an important data-focused lens to marketing problems and is critical for a career in tech.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I love to run, go hiking, explore new coffee shops, visit wineries and breweries, find live music concerts, and travel (both by car and by plane). I try to explore one new country and run one new half marathon in a new state each year (I’m running my 10th half marathon in Vermont in June 2023- the Covered Bridges Half Marathon!)

What advice do you have for Tuck students interested in tech- and digitally-focused career pathways?

Stay open-minded and curious when it comes to your career. Use your summer internship to try something different and new- whether it’s size of company, stage of company, type of product, type of software, type of role, etc. You never know what you might be interested in or how your passion in this space will grow. For example, I never thought I would enjoy working with engineers on APIs and server-side technologies, but I love it and would never have found this passion area if I didn’t take a leap to dive into this work while at Amazon. I also think that tech is a constantly evolving space, so being willing to take (calculated) risks, leverage your network (both at Tuck and beyond), and bet on yourself and your ideas is a winning combination.
